Animal Protection and Control Officer
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
We’re seeking qualified candidates for the position of Animal Protection and Control (APC) Officer. Our officer positions are regular full-time jobs responsible for enforcing State, County and City codes and ordinances governing animal control functions (e.g. field enforcement, licensing, animals at large, animal bite investigations, etc.) and include animal handling and constraint. Incumbents also perform the duties of an Animal Control Dispatcher. Officers represent the organization in a professional, courteous and ethical manner at all times. The job requires learning a wide range of policies, procedures and processes quickly and includes a significant amount of physical field work, handling animals of all temperaments and more. Requirements include a minimum of one-year work experience. Proven clerical, typing and math skills required. Previous animal care, animal welfare and/or animal handling experience strongly desired. Must be able to read and interpret ordinances, prioritize duties and multi-task within a busy work environment. Proven emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills required. English and Spanish bilingual skills (reading/speaking) and experience are a plus. Ability to relate information to the public and staff in a concise, clear manner required as is the ability to work in direct contact with aggressive and injured animals. Previous enforcement and/or dispatch experience a plus. Solid computer skills required and knowledge of Chameleon (or shelter) software helpful. The work schedule is generally 4×10 or 5×8, subject to business need, and includes holiday and weekend shifts. Compensated on-call overnight shifts are required. Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings. Living arrangements within 30 miles of the Shelter due to on-call duties. Client Services Representative (Animal Shelter)
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Client Services Representative (CSR). Our CSRs represent the Organization in a professional and courteous manner and provide quality service at the Shelter’s front desk. The job requires great customer service skills, both in person and over the phone, as well as a professional demeanor. Must be able to quickly learn and accurately use specialized software as well as learn and apply a wide range of policies and procedure. Work includes processing animal adoptions, animal returns to owners and animal surrenders as well as physical animal handling, data entry and other duties. The job includes both sedentary work when processing client information and physical work when handling animals. Must have emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills. Requirements include one year of customer service experience. English and Spanish bilingual skills and experience, verbal and written, are a plus and include a wage premium. Work schedules vary and generally include at least one weekend day shift. Must be willing to work various schedules and be able to work overtime as needed. Dispatcher, Animal Protection and Control
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non Exempt, Hourly
Dispatchers for Larimer Humane Society respond to citizens’ telephone calls regarding animal rescue, public safety, the enforcement of animal ordinances and more. These full-time positions are also responsible for assigning and radio dispatching calls to Animal Protection and Control Officers, overseeing Officers’ locations and monitoring Officers’ safety while in the field. Dispatchers assists citizens with interpretation and understanding of animal ordinances, department procedures, responsible animal ownership and maintain accurate logs, reports and statistics of daily activities. Clerical duties are required to maintain accurate filing and storing of various department paperwork and data. Following training, Dispatchers also assist field officers as needed. The 40 hour schedule for the position is generally 5×8-hours or 4×10-hours and generally includes at least one weekend day. Overtime as needed is required as are holiday shifts. Schedules are subject to change in accordance with business needs. Bilingual English/Spanish (speaking, reading and writing) is a plus and includes additional compensation. Lead Veterinary Technician (Animal Shelter)

Are you a veterinary technician ready to move into a leadership role? Larimer Humane Society is seeking applicants for a Lead Veterinary Technician position. Responsibilities of the Lead Technician include assisting the Supervising Veterinarian with department administrative functions, training others, assisting with inventory and ordering, maintaining maintenance schedules for clinic machinery, and more. The position also performs the tasks of a Veterinary Technician. Requirements include three years of current experience working as a veterinary technician in a veterinary clinic and/or animal shelter clinic. Certification is highly desired. Must be proficient with intubation, IV catheter placement, and IV injection techniques and experience with dental and dental radiology. Leadership and training experience preferred. Chameleon experience a plus. Must be comfortable monitoring and quickly responding to anesthesia and assisting surgeon. Proven emotional intelligence, work ethic, and integrity skills required. Foster and Transfer Coordinator
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Love animal welfare and looking for a new opportunity? We’re seeking candidates for a Coordinator in our Foster and Transfer department. Reporting to the Shelter manager, the coordinators are responsible for the Shelter’s animal foster care and animal transfer programs. Responsibilities include coordination and completion of foster care appointments, response to foster volunteers’ needs and working with our animal transfer partners. Tasks include foster care home inspections; foster volunteer recruiting, training and supervising; and coordinating the movement of animals in and out of foster care and to and from transfer partners. There is a significant amount of animal handling involved. The ability to drive a transfer van for long distances, and stay overnight at out of town locations as needed, is also a job expectation. Requirements include an Associate Degree in biology, animal behavior, animal husbandry, a related field OR equivalent applicable work experience. Supervisory experience a plus. Previous animal foster care coordination experience desired. Proven customer service experience required. Veterinary assistant experience a plus. Neonatal animal care experience helpful and animal welfare experience is preferred. Vaccination and euthanasia certification and/or experience is desirable. Emotional intelligence, work ethics and work integrity required. The regular work schedule is generally five days a week including one weekend day. Overtime, attendance at select events, and travel as needed is required. Must be 21 years of age due to insurance requirements. Development Associate Lead (Fundraising)

Put your skills to work helping shelter animals! Our Lead Development Associate serves as the Development (Fundraising) Department’s principal gift processor and database administrator. Responsibilities include processing donor contributions and producing associated reports, reconciling information with the Finance Department, producing bi-monthly revenue reports and maintaining the donor database. Additionally, tasks include writing assignments such as donor acknowledgements, online solicitations, and grant writing assistance. Serves as both a trainer and backup for the Development Associate for various tasks and provides event assistance as directed. Requirements include a four-year degree or equivalent applicable experience; minimum of 2 years database management experience; Raisers Edge proficiency highly desired; 2 years Microsoft Office suite experience; 1 year data entry and 10 key experience; experience with gift and constituent reporting helpful. Reporting to the Director of Development and Community Relations, this position is responsible for the development, oversight and implementation of Larimer Humane Society’s marketing, public relations and advertising efforts. Engages in the research, planning, implementation, and evaluation of all community outreach activities necessary to build awareness of the Organization’s mission, vision, programs, services and achievements in the community.
Requirements include a minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in marketing and community outreach; minimum two years professional experience with marketing, public relations, and promotions; minimum two years of proven audience-focused persuasive and informational writing experience. One year media relations experience. Website and social media program management required. Media spokesperson experience preferred. Experience producing visual media a plus as is experience with donor and emergency communications. Non-profit development and/or communications experience desired.
