Animal Protection and Control Officer
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
We’re seeking qualified candidates for the position of Animal Protection and Control (APC) Officer. Our officer positions are regular full-time jobs responsible for enforcing State, County and City codes and ordinances governing animal control functions (e.g. field enforcement, licensing, animals at large, animal bite investigations, etc.) and include animal handling and constraint. Incumbents also perform the duties of an Animal Control Dispatcher. Officers represent the organization in a professional, courteous and ethical manner at all times. The job requires learning a wide range of policies, procedures and processes quickly and includes a significant amount of physical field work, handling animals of all temperaments and more. Requirements include a minimum of one-year work experience. Proven clerical, typing and math skills required. Previous animal care, animal welfare and/or animal handling experience strongly desired. Must be able to read and interpret ordinances, prioritize duties and multi-task within a busy work environment. Proven emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills required. English and Spanish bilingual skills (reading/speaking) and experience are a plus. Ability to relate information to the public and staff in a concise, clear manner required as is the ability to work in direct contact with aggressive and injured animals. Previous enforcement and/or dispatch experience a plus. Solid computer skills required and knowledge of Chameleon (or shelter) software helpful. The work schedule is generally 4×10 or 5×8, subject to business need, and includes holiday and weekend shifts. Compensated on-call overnight shifts are required. Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings. Living arrangements within 30 miles of the Shelter due to on-call duties. Client Services Representative
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Client Services Representative (CSR). Our CSRs represent the Organization in a professional and courteous manner and provide quality service at the Shelter’s front desk. The job requires great customer service skills, both in person and over the phone, as well as a professional demeanor. Must be able to quickly learn and accurately use specialized software as well as learn and apply a wide range of policies and procedure. Work includes processing animal adoptions, animal returns to owners and animal surrenders as well as physical animal handling, data entry and other duties. The job includes both sedentary work when processing client information and physical work when handling animals. Must have emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills. Requirements include one year of customer service experience. English and Spanish bilingual skills and experience, verbal and written, are a plus and include a wage premium. Work schedules vary and generally include at least one weekend day shift. Must be willing to work various schedules and be able to work overtime as needed. Lead Veterinary Technician

Are you a veterinary technician ready to move into a leadership role? Larimer Humane Society is seeking applicants for a Lead Veterinary Technician position. Responsibilities of the Lead Technician include assisting the Supervising Veterinarian with department administrative functions, training others, assisting with inventory and ordering, maintaining maintenance schedules for clinic machinery, and more. The position also performs the tasks of a Veterinary Technician. Requirements include three years of current experience working as a veterinary technician in a veterinary clinic and/or animal shelter clinic. Certification is highly desired. Must be proficient with intubation, IV catheter placement, and IV injection techniques and experience with dental and dental radiology. Leadership and training experience preferred. Chameleon experience a plus. Must be comfortable monitoring and quickly responding to anesthesia and assisting surgeon. Proven emotional intelligence, work ethic, and integrity skills required. Safety and Emergency Program Manager

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Safety and Emergency Program Manager leads the Organization’s internal emergency preparedness and safety initiatives. Responsible for the collaborative framework for preparedness, response, evacuation and recovery efforts with regard to the housing, care and protection of domestic pets and service animals in the event of a disaster and the internal safety program. Creates and facilitates safety trainings for staff and volunteers. Writes safety and emergency related procedures and information. Manages in-house people safety drills and exercises. Manages goals, plans, timelines and budgets and models safe working practices. Serves as primary Emergency Operations Center (EOC) rep; attends EOC briefings; ensures Joint Information Center (JIC) receives accurate and timely information in events. Attends City and County meetings, exercises and trainings and facilitates internal Emergency Response meetings and trainings. Oversees the Community Animal Response Team (CART) program. Requirements include a BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and one year of applicable work experience. Staff/volunteer supervisory experience required as is training and public speaking. Documentation and compliant preservation experience. Knowledge of OSHA regulations. Completion of select FEMA courses a plus: IS-100, IS-III, IS-200, IS-700, IS-10, IS-11 Module B. Under the direction of the Supervisor, safely completes tasks and maintenance tickets related to landscaping, janitorial and facility operation. Performs designated custodial, maintenance and facility tasks and assists with vendor, contractor and volunteer worker oversite as directed. Schedule is 40 hours per week, generally Tuesday through Saturday and subject to change, with additional weekend and evening hours as needed. Requirements include a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, plus one year of work experience in general, and experience in an applicable role including hands-on cleaning and grounds keeping. Development Associate Lead (Fundraising)

Responsibilities include processing donor contributions and producing associated reports, reconciling information with the Finance Department, producing bi-monthly revenue reports and maintaining the donor database. Additionally, tasks include writing assignments such as donor acknowledgements, online solicitations, and grant writing assistance. Serves as both a trainer and backup for the Development Associate for various tasks and provides event assistance as directed. Requirements include a four-year degree or equivalent applicable experience; minimum of 2 years database management experience; Raisers Edge proficiency highly desired; 2 years Microsoft Office suite experience; 1 year data entry and 10 key experience; experience with gift and constituent reporting helpful. Supervising Veterinarian

Reporting to the Director of Operations, our Supervising Veterinarian is responsible for oversight of the daily operations of the Society’s Veterinary Services and Foster & Transfer departments. Responsibilities include managing the health of the Shelter population, the surgical program and our disease control protocols. The position serves as a key member of the Shelter management team and leads Shelter Veterinarians, Contract Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians and Assistants, Foster and Transfer Coordinators and others. Interacts closely and collaborates with the Shelter Manager and the Director of Animal Protection and Control. Must be currently licensed to practice in the State of Colorado (or obtain license soon after hiring) and maintain certification. Minimum one-year experience as an animal shelter veterinarian with substantial responsibilities for population level issues required. High quality/high volume surgical sterilization experience required. Must be qualified and eligible to obtain and retain DEA license and provide proof of, and maintain, Professional Liability Insurance. Minimum of more than one-year proven staff supervisory experience required. Experience performing dental surgeries preferred. Veterinary experience with exotics and barnyard animals a plus. Knowledge of population and individual animal health management, disease prevention and control, and epidemiology, strongly desired. Proven decision making and diagnostic skills and an interest in pursuing treatment options with limited resources.
