Animal Foster and Transfer Coordinator
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Foster and Transfer Coordinator for our Northern Colorado animal shelter. The position reports to our Supervising Veterinarian and, with a co-coordinator, is responsible for implementing the Shelter’s animal foster care and animal transfer programs. Primary areas of responsibility include coordination and completion of foster care appointments, response to foster volunteer needs and working with a variety of animal transfer partners. Tasks include foster care volunteer home inspections, foster volunteer recruiting, training and supervision, and coordinating the movement of animals in and out of foster care and to and from transfer partners. There is a significant amount of animal handling involved. The ability to drive a transfer van for long distances, and stay overnight at out of town locations as needed, is also a job expectation. Requirements include an Associate Degree in biology, animal behavior, animal husbandry, a related field of study or equivalent applicable work experience required. Veterinary assistant or technician experience is a plus as is Chameleon software experience. Previous experience involving customer service and companion animal care and handling are required. Neonatal animal care experience is helpful and animal welfare experience is preferred. Euthanasia and vaccination certification and/or experience is desirable. Emotional intelligence, work ethics and work integrity required. Bilingual English/Spanish reading, writing, speaking is a plus and includes a wage premium. The regular work schedule for the job will be five days a week including one weekend day. Overtime, attendance at select events, and travel as needed is required. Must be 21 years of age due to insurance requirements and have and maintain an insurable driving record. Safety and Emergency Program Manager (Animal Shelter)
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Exempt, Salary

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Safety and Emergency Program Manager leads the Organization’s internal safety and emergency preparedness initiatives. The position is responsible for the Organization’s internal employee safety program as well as the collaborative framework for preparedness, response, evacuation and recovery efforts with regard to the housing, care and protection of domestic pets and service animals in the event of a disaster. Creates and facilitates safety trainings for staff and volunteers. Writes safety and emergency related procedures and information. Manages in-house people-related safety drills and exercises. Manages goals, plans, timelines and budgets and models safe working practices. Serves as primary County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) representative; attends EOC briefings; ensures Joint Information Center (JIC) receives accurate and timely information in events. Attends City and County meetings, exercises and trainings and facilitates internal Emergency Response meetings and trainings. Oversees the Community Animal Response Team (CART) program. Requirements include a BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and one year of applicable work experience. Staff or volunteer supervisory experience required as is training and public speaking. Documentation and compliant preservation experience. Knowledge of OSHA regulations. Proven completion of select FEMA courses a plus: IS-100, IS-III, IS-200, IS-700, IS-10, IS-11 Module B. Veterinary Technician (Animal Shelter)
Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Our Veterinary Technicians (Credentialed/Registered/Provisional) provide clinical and administrative support for the Veterinary Services Department. Schedules are full time (40 hours per week) and include weekend shifts. Schedules are subject to change according to business need. Shift hours can range from 7am to 8pm. Emergency hours may be implemented during emergency situations. Overtime will be required as needed. Holidays, evenings and weekend work required as needed. Flexibility is preferred. Duties include assisting with the surgical program including induction and intubation of surgery patients; monitory of patients from induction through recovery; performing dental prophy and radiographs; preparing and interpreting basic diagnostic tests; performing euthanasia as assigned; supervising and assisting with basic training of veterinary students, veterinary technician students and department volunteers and more. Requirements and qualifications include direct animal care and handling experience; 21 years of age or older for insurance purposes; proficiency with intubation, IV catheter placement and IV injection techniques; strong verbal and written communication skills; proven emotional intelligence, integrity and work ethic skills; and more.
NOTE: Certification/Registration with the State of Colorado is a requirement for this job. Client Services Representative

Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Client Services Representative (CSR). Our CSRs represent the organization in a professional and courteous manner and provide quality service at the shelter’s front desk. The job requires great customer service skills, both in person and over the phone, as well as a professional demeanor. Must be able to quickly learn and accurately use specialized software as well as learn and apply a wide range of policies and procedures. Work includes processing animal adoptions, animal returns to owners and animal surrenders (includes physical animal handling), data entry, and other duties. The job includes both sedentary work when processing client information and physical work when handling animals. Must have emotional intelligence, work ethics, and integrity skills. Requirements include one year of customer service experience. English and Spanish bilingual skills and experience (both verbal and written) are a plus and include a wage premium. Animal Care Supervisor
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Animal Care Supervisors at Larimer Humane Society are responsible for the daily care of animals in the Shelter (including cats, dogs, small mammals, exotic pets and barnyard animals). This is full-time working supervisor position reporting to our Shelter Supervisors. Incumbents train and supervise approximately eight to ten Animal Care Technicians in animal care and feeding, animal facility cleaning, disease control and safety protocols and more. There is a significant amount of animal interaction and handling required. Must have supervisory skills and solid emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills. Participates in Shelter Team, Shelter Supervisor and Supervisor/Manager meetings and is actively engaged in setting schedules, reviewing workflow and suggesting and implementing improvements. Supervises assigned volunteers including community service volunteers. The position includes pet end of life tasks. Education and experience requirements include a minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience, one year of proven staff supervisory experience or Larimer Humane Society lead experience. Regular work schedules are five days a week, including one weekend day, and shift hours are generally between 7:30AM and 7:30PM weekdays and 7:30AM and 5:30PM weekends. Animal Protection & Control Officer

Our officer positions are regular full-time jobs responsible for enforcing state, county and city codes and ordinances governing animal control functions (e.g. field enforcement, licensing, animals at large, animal bite investigations, etc.) and include animal handling and constraint. Officers represent the organization in a professional, courteous and ethical manner at all times. The job requires learning a wide range of policies, procedures and processes quickly and includes a significant amount of physical field work, handling animals of all temperaments and more. Requirements include a minimum of a high school diploma or GED plus one full year of work experience; computer, clerical, typing and math skills; experience prioritizing duties and multi-tasking within a busy environment; emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity; and the ability to work compensated overnight on-call shifts. Also required is the ability to communicate information to the public and coworkers in a concise, clear manner and the ability and willingness to work in direct contact with and handle animals of all temperaments and in all conditions, including aggressive, injured, ill and deceased. Advanced and completed education in an applicable field of study such as, but not limited to, Animal Science, Wildlife Science, Criminal Justice, Criminology, and Veterinary Technology are a plus. Previous animal care, animal welfare and/or animal handling experience strongly desired. Experience reading and interpreting ordinances desired. Previous enforcement or animal control experience a plus, as is previous applicable dispatch experience. Knowledge of Chameleon software helpful. English and Spanish bilingual skills (reading/writing/speaking proficiency) in the workplace are a plus and include additional compensation. Maintenance Coordinator (Animal Shelter)

We’ve updated our facility plans and are searching for qualified applicants for our new, full-time, Maintenance Coordinator position. Working along-side our Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Coordinator assists in ensuring proper care and upkeep of the Shelter’s buildings, grounds and equipment. Under the direction of the Supervisor, safely completes tasks and maintenance tickets related to grounds keeping/landscaping, physical building maintenance and facility operation. Performs routine maintenance associated tasks and assists with vendor, contractor and volunteer worker oversite as directed. This is a physical position that includes tasks such as painting, the use of hand tools, floor machine operation, snow removal, weed removal and control, repair work and more. Schedule is 40 hours per week, generally Tuesday through Saturday and subject to change, with additional weekend and evening hours as required. Must be at least 18 years of age for insurance purposes. NOTE: this position does not include shelter animal handling but applicants must be able to work around all types of Shelter animals and their habitats. Requirements include a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and 1 full year of work experience in general, plus at least 6 months experience in an applicable role including hands-on general maintenance. Effective and appropriate customer service, interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills are essential. Must have work ethic and integrity skills. A valid Colorado Driver’s License and Colorado compliant vehicle insurance is required as is an insurable driving record in accordance with the Society’s insurance provider’s requirements. Custodian (Animal Shelter)
Part-Time (20-25 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
We’re seeking a custodial professional interested in working a part-time schedule of 20 to 25 hours per week. Reporting to our Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor, the Custodian safely completes cleaning and related tasks at Larimer Humane Society. Performs routine designated custodial and janitorial tasks including deep cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, recycling and more. Note: the job does not involve animal handling or care. Expected schedule is 20-25 hours per week, generally Monday-Friday and is subject to change. Must be at least 18 years of age for insurance purposes. Requirements include a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and 1 full year of work experience in general and at least 3 months experience in an applicable role including hands-on cleaning. Effective and professional communication skills required as is the ability to work independently and on a team and to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner. Solid communication and general computer skills required. Able to establish and maintain organized work and storage areas and to work around all types of companion and small barn animals as well as hay. Effective and appropriate customer service, interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills are essential.
