During this first full week in November, the staff at Larimer Humane Society is celebrating “National Animal Shelter Week,” and thanking everyone for the work and dedication in helping to protect animals in our community. This includes our staff, volunteers, and just as important…YOU!

2020 has been a year with obstacles that none of us could’ve expected, but thanks to an amazing community of animal lovers who support this work each day, we’ve been able to conquer these obstacles together, with strength and resilience.

Looking ahead to the end of the year and the beginning of 2021, many wonder, “How can I help?” National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week is a perfect time to consider the various ways that your partnership and participation with Larimer Humane Society ultimately impacts animals without another place to turn. Here are just a few ways that you can get involved:

  • Adopt your next pet from Larimer Humane Society! According to the Humane Society of the United States, while 63 percent of American households include pets, fewer than 20 percent of them were adopted from shelters. Larimer Humane Society has adoptable pets that come in many shapes and sizes, and you can see an updated list of adoptable animals by clicking here
  • Help keep pets safe throughout northern Colorado by being a responsible pet owner. When you have a furry family member, you want to make sure that they’re always wearing collars and ID tags, and that they are properly licensed with the County. Larimer Humane Society’s Licensing team can help you license an animal for the first time or make sure that everything is updated correctly. Another role in being a responsible pet owner is to make sure that you spay/neuter your pet, playing your part in preventing unintended litters.
  • Donate to Larimer Humane Society. Monetary donations are the most needed at this time and are most beneficial in helping to create a second chance for animals in need. Gifts made today through the Give Hope campaign will be matched through December 31!
  • Lastly, you can be an advocate for the animals at Larimer Humane Society. In a world where the reach on social media is invaluable, “likes,” “friends,” and “shares” us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and let your network know that you support our mission and vision, ensuring compassion for any animal in need.

While we’ve given you four ways to become a partner in Larimer Humane Society’s work, there are countless others. No matter how you become involved, you can make a meaningful difference for pets in need.

Thank you from all of us at Larimer Humane Society for your support of this mission – and happy National Animal Shelter Week!
