pdfAnimal Care Technician (ACT)

Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly

Part-Time (20-25 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly 

Larimer Humane Society seeks qualified applicants to join our Animal Care Technician (ACT) team.  Please review the job description and include your days and times of work availability, as well as start date availability and note part-time or full-time, in a cover letter.  Our ACTs are responsible for the daily care of Shelter animals as well as habitat cleaning.  Animal care positions involve a significant amount of animal interaction and physical labor with limited sedentary work.  Animals in our care include dogs, cats, small mammals, exotic animals, barnyard animals and more.  Must have emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills.  Work shifts vary and include at least one weekend day as the positions generally provide animal care coverage from 7:30am to 7:30pm Monday through Friday and from 7:30am to 5:30pm Saturday and Sunday.  Local applicants are preferred as relocation assistance is unavailable. 

Expected hiring range is $12.00 to $12.50 per hour. Closes when filled.

Larimer Humane Society seeks qualified applicants for the position of Animal Protection and Control (APC) Officer.  Please include days and hours of work availability, as well as start date availability and salary requirements, in a cover letter.  Our Animal Control Officers are responsible for enforcing State, County and City codes and ordinances governing animal control functions (e.g. field enforcement, licensing, animals at large, animal bite investigations, etc.) and include animal handling and constraint. The position also performs the duties of an Animal Control Dispatcher.  Officers represent the organization in a professional, courteous and ethical manner at all times. The job requires learning a wide range of policies, procedures and processes quickly and includes a significant amount of physical fieldwork, handling of animals of all temperaments and more.  Requirements include a minimum of one-year animal care, animal welfare and/or animal handling experience in a professional capacity.  Proven clerical, typing and math skills required.  Must be able to read and interpret ordinances, prioritize duties and multi-task within a busy work environment.  Proven emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills required.  English and Spanish bilingual skills and experience are a plus.  Ability to relate information to the public and staff in a concise, clear manner is required as is the ability to work in direct contact with aggressive and injured animals.  Previous enforcement and/or dispatch experience a plus.  Solid computer skills required and knowledge of Chameleon software helpful.  The work schedule is generally 4x10 or 5x8, subject to business need, and includes one weekend day, holiday shifts and compensated on-call overnight shifts.  Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings.  Living arrangements within 30 miles of the Shelter due to on-call duties.  Local applicants preferred as relocation assistance is unavailable.

Hiring range starts at $13.40 per hour (non-certified) and higher for Colorado certified candidates with applicable experience.  Closes when filled.        

 

pdfBehavior Coordinator (Animal Shelter)

Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non Exempt, Hourly  

Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Behavior Coordinator.  Reporting to the Shelter Manager, these positions serve as an internal resource for basic animal behavior for the Shelter.  Evaluation responsibilities include evaluating the animals in our care for outcomes including adoption, foster care, transfer, medical attention and more, including review for euthanasia.   Our Behavior Coordinators also develop and/or implement programs and practices to meet the enrichment needs of companion animals including dogs, cats, small mammals, reptiles and more.  There is a significant amount of direct animal interaction required as well as supervision and training of volunteers.  Additional duties include communicating with clients in person, by phone and through email and creating basic help guides for clients and animal foster volunteers.  Requirements include a minimum of an Associate Degree in biology, the animal sciences, animal husbandry, veterinary-related medicine or an associated field of study or equivalent and applicable work experience.  A minimum of over one year work experience in the animal welfare industry, or over 8 months of current experience with Larimer Humane Society, as well as one year of customer service is required.  Previous animal behavior evaluation and/or enrichment experience desirable.  Chameleon software experience is a plus.  Previous veterinary assistant or technician experience helpful.  Work shifts are five days a week including one weekend day.  Overtime and attendance at some events will be required.  Please include days and times of availability, and salary requirements, in cover letter.       

Expected hiring range is $13.50 to $15.00 per hour and may be negotiable commensurate with applicable experience.  Closes when filled or August 15, 2019.

Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Client Services Representative (CSR).  .  Our CSRs represent the Organization in a professional and courteous manner and provide quality service at the Shelter’s front desk.  The job requires great customer service skills, both in person and over the phone.  Must be able to quickly learn and accurately use specialized software as well as learn and apply a wide range of policies and procedure.  Work includes processing animal adoptions, animal returns to owners and animal surrenders as well as physical animal handling, data entry and other duties.  The job includes both sedentary work when processing client information and physical work when handling animals.  Must have emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills. Larimer Humane Society seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director of Animal Protection and Control (APC).  Please include availability and salary requirements in cover letter.  Reporting to the CEO, the Director is responsible for providing strategic direction, overall management and tactical animal control leadership for Larimer Humane Society located in Northern Colorado.  The incumbent directs the enforcement of county and municipality ordinances and state statutes relating to animal welfare and public safety.  Develops and implements policies, programs and services related to Animal Control for contractual jurisdictions and ensures Organizational compliance.  Develops programs and activities to promote responsible pet ownership consistent with the values and mission of Larimer Humane Society.  Manages a team of approximately twelve (12) Animal Control and Dispatch officers.  Serves as a field officer on occasion, as needed.  Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent applicable experience, a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience and four (4) years of field Animal Protection and Control, Code Enforcement or Law Enforcement experience.  Proven customer service skills are required, as are solid verbal and written communication and computer skills.  Public speaking experience is required and spokesperson experience is desired.  Humane Officer State Certification and court testimony experience is desired and certifications including CAACO, NACA, NACHO and CAWA are a plus.  Contract negotiation and government liaison experience is a plus as are animal shelter and Chameleon software experience.   Bilingual, written and spoken, in English and Spanish a plus.  Proven emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills.  Relocation assistance may be available. 

Expected hiring range is $65k to $70k and may be negotiable commensurate with applicable experience. Closes when filled.
