What is Critter Camp?

Critter Camp is a five-day humane education camp that is designed to teach children about the responsible care and treatment of animals. Hands-on activities include visits with shelter animals and staff, informative lessons about responsible pet ownership and dog safety, fun animal crafts and service projects, exploration of key issues in animal welfare and the role of Larimer Humane Society in the local community, and a brainstorm of ways that young people can make a difference in the lives of animals who need their help.

Who Can Attend?

The June and August Critter Camps are designed for 8-10 year olds and the July Critter Camp is designed for 11-13 year olds.

Due to space limitations at our facility, enrollment is limited to 10 students per Critter Camp. Priority will be given to those children who have not previously attended a weeklong Larimer Humane Society Kids Camp before.

Spaces are reserved on a first-come, first-registered basis.  Payment must be received at the time of registration to confirm a spot for your child.

When and Where?

Each camp session is five days, Monday through Friday. Camp is from  9:00 AM - 1:00 PM daily for all sessions. Child care is not provided before or after camp.

All camp activities take place at the Larimer Humane Society shelter, located at 6317 Kyle Ave. in Fort Collins.

2012 Summer sessions are as follows:

June 18-22, 2012: For 8-10 year olds - FULL

July 16-20, 2012: For 11-13 year olds - STILL AVAILABLE

August 6-10, 2012: For 8-10 year olds - FULL
