Dear LHS,
Four years ago we adopted a 3 month old polydactyl kitten, Miss Priss, who now answers to Palu (PAH-loo). We immediately fell in love with our little girl the moment we laid eyes on her kneading away at the cage floor with those giant paws. Since the day we brought her home she has been a loving, hilarious little clown who never ceases to surprise us. She loves to show off for visitors by doing her tricks on command: high-fives, kiss, lay down, roll over and jump through a hoop.
She's also decided that since my parrot sometimes rides on my shoulders while I cook, she should be allowed to as well- she sometimes jumps up on my back and climbs to my shoulders when I stoop over to get something out of the cabinet- it's very charming!Palu is so wonderful I sometimes wonder how I could ever live without her antics! One day I had come home to find my Quaker parrot had let himself out of his cage while I was at work. I started panicking when I saw the cage door open, but then I saw Guapo (the bird) hanging out on his playpen about 8 inches away from Palu who was sleeping away like it was just business as usual. Besides the fact that Palu sometimes forgets Guapo's a bird and wants to wrestle and roll on him, she's amazingly gentle.
She also loves to play tag right before bed- we thunder through the house playing chase and she makes me laugh every time that she comes around a corner walking sideways with her back arched and her tail puffed up like a fox. Thank you so much for everything you do there at the shelter. I often come in to see if I can find another sweet soul who will fit into our little menagerie (I think Palu needs a buddy to wrestle with to give Guapo a break!). The volunteers/employees are always so friendly and patient with me while I visit with all the critters. :) I can't tell you how much I appreciate everything you all do.
Best wishes in the new year!
Alanna, Jason, Palu and Guapo
