The Larimer Humane Society is an open-door shelter. Unlike no-kill facilities, we offer care to every animal in need. In order to be a no-kill shelter we would have to limit the number and types of animals we accept. We don’t turn any animal away and last year, the Humane Society sheltered over 8,721 domestic animals and over 3,074 wild, exotic and farm animals, and the Animal Protection and Control Department answered 20,959 activities (including investigations and welfare, stray pick up, wild animal pick up, public safety service and deceased animal pick up. In 2007 the Larimer Humane Society adopted 3,141 animals into loving homes and reunited over 2,067 animals to their owners.
