Matto Gato and Chubbs
matto_gato_and_chubbs.jpgTwo cats we've adopted with great outgoing personalities. Everyone loves them.  Matto Gato is amazingly athletic and into everything - funny and bonkers.  Chubbs doesn't do much of anything, but has a heart of gold.  (No animals were hurt in the making of this photo, only photoshop was used.)

Jacquemo
jacquemo.jpgNot sure if this is an adoption story, but I wanted to let you know that one of your "alumni" has made it to the big time. I'm attaching a picture of the front page of one of our local newspapers here in New Orleans. When my 25 yr old son was in exile in your city due to Hurricane Katrina, he was lonely and decided to find a friend at the shelter. Our Jacquemo is a cover model for a story the paper did on the opening of the first official dog park in our city. He also appeared on a local tv news story. He has become a celebrity around here, and we are taking this opportunity to let the world know that there are gorgeous, amazingly sweet, well behaved and much deserving dogs at shelters everywhere. He is an angel, and loves his home here with his two sisters, Mookie and Coco. He only asks for one thing, to get a shave every year for the very hot summers! Thanks for your dedication to rescue work.

Simba
Hi All -
We adopted Simba on Tuesday, and he is great.  Within an hour of getting home he had explored every inch, high and low, of his new home.  Found and uses the litter box so an easy integration to the house. He is easy going with the dog, and they are actually playing together! The one having a harder time is my son's cat who has become territorial, afraid her spots are at risk I guess.  But they are getting closer and closer all the time and eventually will come to terms, about the time my son moves back out! He's great, energetic, playful and yet very affectionate.  I am really glad I came back and got him.  What a cutey - what a personality!

Chip
chip.jpgThis little guy is so neat and lovey, just what I needed after loosing my beagle Sam the end of June, thought no more dogs etc. and that was the 27th of June and Chip was here the 11th of July, I have had him for 7 months now, he is just such a well behaved and well trained dog for sure. Pretty darn good for a "second hand" dog!! Thanks!! Have a great day!!!

Vern
vern.jpgThree weeks ago I adopted Vern (aka Chincho) from LHS.  He is a tiny chihuahua that had just had many teeth pulled prior to adoption. Thanks to you, Vern has gained a pound, and is starting to play. He is painfully shy, but even that is beginning to change. I think he is a happy boy now, and I am sure a happy chi mom.  Thank you!

Tally
tally.jpgThe day before Christmas Eve my border collie and I were on the south end of town and decided to stop by LHS.  I came across Tally, a "who knows what" mix and we brought her home to our ranch.  She may as well have been with us forever.  Right from the start she herds the cattle perfectly, she trailrides with me, the horses, and her best friend the border collie, she runs and keeps track of the perimeter of the property, and loves on all the children who come for riding lessons.  With only very minimal training she has learned a host of "party tricks" and all her obedience commands.  I could not have asked for an easier transition to ranch life for her, and to top it all off - she loves her baths and is an absolute couch potato in the house.  Thank you for such a wonderful dog!
