School is almost over! If you are in the market for a new pet while you have extra time this summer, check out our pets of the week! Today we are introducing Koda, a three-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix who loves to play, Sadie, a six-year-old gray long haired cat who would enjoy your company, and Dylan Sanders, a two-month-old gerbil who is looking for a nice comfy home and people to play with!
Koda is a three-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix who has a lot of joy and energy to share! This joyful pup needs a few extra things to keep him healthy, happy, and successful in his new home. Koda has previously gotten along well with other dogs at home, but when on walks, he can be reactive, which means that he gets overstimulated by the other dogs that he sees. Koda needs someone who will work patiently with him and help him when he becomes overwhelmed! Koda also needs a lot of enrichment -- this means extra play time, puzzle toys, and ample exercise! If you’re looking for an active pup to take hiking or to play in the yard with, Koda may be the dog for you! Come by the shelter and meet him today; he can go home for $175.
If you’re not looking for a hiking buddy like Koda, but would prefer a couch potato friend, look no further than Sadie! Sadie has been through our shelter before, and we are here again to help find her the perfect home. This long-haired gray kitty is six-years-old, and enjoys napping, and getting scratches and pets. And you might think it’s all fur from her photo, but Sadie is actually a little overweight! Sadie will need a family who will monitor her food intake and help her become the slim, trim lady that she truly is. In addition to that, overweight cats often are not very flexible, and Sadie will need extra grooming to keep her long fur shiny and gorgeous. Come meet this cute little fluff-ball! Her adoption fee has been sponsored, so all Sadie needs now is a home.
Dylan Sanders is a cute little gerbil who is two months old, and waiting to go home with the right people! Gerbils are very small, adorable desert rodents who are playful and entertaining to watch. Often they can be seen standing on their back legs with their front paws in the air, sniffing and exploring their surroundings! Gerbils are friendly and less shy than hamsters or Guinea pigs, and can be very tame. Also, gerbils live around three years, so they live longer than mice, but not as long as Guinea Pigs! While gerbils are normally social animals, Dylan Sanders will do best as an only pet. However, if you are wanting more than one friend to take home, we also have Gandalf, Charlie, Alex Monday, Chrys, and Natalie Cook here at the shelter for adoption! They are $5 each.
