Luke PumaEvery animal deserves freedom from hunger and thirst, freedom from discomfort, pain, injury and disease, freedom to express normal behavior and freedom from fear and distress.

When we first met Luke, he had been robbed of many of his five freedoms. He was a stray cat, living on the streets and suffering from severe wounds that were threatening his life. Luckily for Luke, our Animal Protection & Control team found him and brought him to our shelter where we went to work providing him with this five basic freedoms, beginning with the freedom from pain, injury and disease.

Theo was brought to Larimer Humane Society after surviving a trip trapped under the hood of a car—all the way from Wellington to Denver! She appeared to have minor burns on her paw pads and some bruising on her abdomen. After weeks of diligent veterinary care from Larimer Humane Society staff, Theo was finally healed, healthy and ready to find her forever home.

Once she was put up for adoption, her new mom came in and thought she was the prettiest cat. It was love at first sight; Theo had found a forever home.

Theo is extremely social, running to greet her family whenever they wake up in the morning or come home from work. She loves being with people, and she’ll follow her family around to different rooms just to be with them. She’s a great buddy who loves to cuddle, purr, and rub on legs.

Sally Ann waited patiently for her new forever family to come, and when they found her she was lying calmly in her kennel, with her paws crossed in a very ladylike manner.

LadybugSenior animals can have a harder time finding homes, but they make excellent pets! Ladybug is an example of a senior cat who has found a new home to fill with joy.

When Ladybug was 15 years old, she was surrendered by her owners to Larimer Humane Society. Her new family was looking for a sweet, loveable cat, and Ladybug caught their eye when she stuck her paw out of the cage to reach for them as they passed by. They fell in love with her little chirps and took her home.
