2016-02-17-wrigleyWrigley escaped from a dog sitter in Fort Collins. His family from Westminster was out of state, but flew back as quickly as they could and drove straight from the airport to Fort Collins. They reported him missing at Larimer Humane Society and began a search that would last ten days.

2016-02-17-georgeGeorge is an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix with a happy tail to tell! When his owner passed away, George was brought to Larimer Humane Society at the age of 14. It can be hard for senior animals to find a home, but when his new family saw his age, they felt horrible that he was in the shelter at his age! They got in the car to get him that very day.

2016-02-17-sophieSophie was a long-time resident at Larimer Humane Society. She originally arrived in 2013 because she didn’t get along well with the other animals in her home. She was adopted and brought back twice for various reasons, returning the second time in May 2015.

During her time at Larimer Humane Society, Sophie earned her place in the hearts of many shelter volunteers and staff members. She was part of the Pets Needing Patience program, where she got extra attention, and she received clicker training.

Happy Tail SammySammy’s family came to Larimer Humane Society in search of a large, mixed-breed, older dog that was well house-trained and past the chewing stage. Sammy didn’t fit the bill, but they fell in love with him. They loved his enthusiasm as he happily ran to the front of his dog run to greet them. They were drawn to his gummy face and barrel-shaped body. And when they got a chance to play with him, he licked them right away. Looking back, that was the point of no return, and they brought him home the next day.

Happy Tail! Loki and Eevee

We’ve had cats from Larimer Humane Society in the past, but they passed away a couple of years ago. They were very special and it took a while before we’re ready to have cats again in our home. In November, a coworker who fosters brought a kitten into work. It was immediately apparent that I missed having cats at home. I discovered that there were kittens at Larimer Humane Society the day after Thanksgiving, and I knew I wasn’t going home without two cats. I know cats do better when they have a friend and that’s why I specifically was looking for a pair of cats.

Loki and Eevee are loving and feisty and very rewarding, especially for my two kids. My six year-old son and eight year-old daughter are ready for the responsibility of pet care and it has been a fun experience.
