Charlie the two-month-old Australian Shepherd was the first of 188 animals to be adopted on August 18th. A few short weeks before Clear the Shelters, Charlie found herself at a shelter in New Mexico without a family to call her own. This tiny, fluffy pup had a lot of love to give and no one to give it to.
Thanks to our transfer partnership we were able to transfer Charlie to Northern Colorado where she would have the opportunity to find her forever family.
Charlie's new family was ready to open their heart and home to a dog in need. They heard about Clear the Shelters and decided it was the perfect time and situation to adopt. They saw Charlie's photo and knew she was the dog for them. They arrived at our shelter at 4:30 am on the day of Clear the Shelters to ensure they had the opportunity to meet her. They were the first adopters in line and the first adopters to meet with an animal. They instantly fell in love with Charlie. The wiggly puppy showered her new family with kisses and the rest is history.
Charlie's new owners say she has completed their little family and she means the world to them. She is sweet, corky and has an attitude all her own. Her new mom says nothing beats the feeling of coming home to a little ball of fluff with floppy ears running at you full speed. Charlie's family says they didn't go to Clear the Shelters at 4:30 am on a whim, they were ready to expand their family and Larimer Humane Society gave them the greatest gift they could have ever asked for.
