Soco is a Labrador/Rottweiler mix who had a rough start to life. Her first home was with a neglectful owner training her to be a fighting dog. She was taken from that home and briefly adopted by another family, but she was skittish and avoided her new family because of her past experiences with humans, so she was taken to a shelter. Another family adopted her, but she was removed from that home due to abuse.
After two and a half years of being bounced around between abusive homes and shelters, Soco found her loving forever family through Larimer Humane Society. They were looking to fill a void in their home, and felt like a dog would be the perfect addition. Soco stood out to them because of her calm, laidback temperament. While they were spending time getting to know her, she sat between them and pawed at their hands for a belly rub, and that’s when they knew she was the dog for them.
Once she got home, Soco started to act scared and standoffish. But when her family learned why she behaved that way, they were more determined than ever to show Soco that she was in a safe, loving environment and she was a permanent member of the family. With time, Soco grew out of her shell and began to be comfortable and playful. Now, Soco is a happy, well-adjusted dog who has brought love, protection, and entertainment to her family.
