Kara Pappas

KaraPappas Title: Development Manager

Kara Pappas is the Development Manager for Larimer Humane Society.  With more than five years of experience in fundraising and special events coordination, Kara utilizes her expertise to research, plan, implement and evaluate all fundraising activities for Larimer Humane Society, including individual donor programming, direct mail/email, foundation and corporate support, planned giving, and the organization’s signature events and projects including the Top Cat & Tails Gala; Fire Hydrant 5, 5K Walk/Run & Pet Expo; and 12 of 12,000 – A Celebration of Second Chances.

Kara started her career with Larimer Humane Society in December 2006 as the organization’s Special Events Coordinator.  In this position, Kara was responsible for the oversight of several fundraising efforts, including Larimer Humane Society’s Day Planner project and numerous community partnership events.

Before joining Larimer Humane Society, Kara worked as the Director of Catering Events for Group Publishing in Loveland.

Kara graduated with cum laude distinction from Colorado State University in 2005, where she was also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in technical journalism with a minor in hospitality management.

Kara is proud to occupy an area of animal welfare that both utilizes her skills and interests, and sustains the lifesaving programs and services vital to the homeless, injured, ill, and abused animals in our community.  Animal abuse and neglect are the aspects of animal welfare closest to Kara’s heart.  She is passionate about the work Larimer Humane Society does to treat, foster, and socialize the animals that have fallen victim to abusive situations, as well as the outreach and educational services that help to curtail abusive behavior throughout the communities we serve.

Kara and her husband Neil reside in Johnstown, Colorado, and are proud pet parents to two adopted canine kids:  Wyatt, a two-year-old, three-legged Labrador Retriever mix and Larimer Humane Society alumnus; and Shelby, a Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier mix puppy.
