Title: Volunteer Program and Humane Education Coordinator
Eva is the Volunteer Program and Humane Education Coordinator at Larimer Humane Society. With more than 10 years experience teaching science education to students ranging from three to 100 years old and six years experience running a large-scale volunteer program, Eva will use her expertise to oversee all volunteer and humane education programs for Larimer Humane Society. Her job duties include conducting shelter tours, providing outreach education programs to the Larimer County community, organizing all volunteer orientations and trainings, evaluating the volunteer program, maintaining proper paperwork and data entry for each volunteer, and assisting with special events and fundraisers.
Eva came to Larimer Humane Society in May 2013 from Boynton Beach, Florida where she was awarded Palm Beach County’s highest achievement in 2012, the Golden Palm Award, for creating a successful volunteer program and increasing the retention and productivity of the park volunteers. As the Manager of Green Cay Nature Center, Eva managed a 100-acre park, coordinated over 100 volunteers, supervised various park staff, and taught science education programs to over 5,000 people each year.
Before moving to Florida, Eva was the Education Coordinator for the Jekyll Island 4-H Center in Jekyll Island, Georgia where she supervised 12 seasonal naturalists in teaching marine science to over 11,000 students each year from across the Southeast.
Eva graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Science and minors in both Biology and Chemistry from Lander University. Eva is currently enrolled in a Master’s program for Recreation and Parks Management with Frostburg State University.
As someone that is passionate about the mission of Larimer Humane Society, specifically educating the public about key issues in animal welfare, Eva is excited about joining the Community Relations team and leading such a robust volunteer program.
In her free time, Eva enjoys traveling, hiking and birding. She especially enjoys birding in the Neotropics but looks forward to exploring Colorado and the Western states. She also spends time with her dog, Daisy, an 8-year-old French Bulldog/Boxer mix whom she adopted from Larimer Humane Society in June 2013.
