John Frey

John P. Frey is the Chairperson of the Board of the Directors for Larimer Humane Society.  He joined the Board of the Directors in May 2007.  Frey is an attorney and partner at Frey, McCargar and Plock, LLC – Attorneys at Law in Fort Collins, Colorado.  Frey has been practicing law in Fort Collins since his graduation from the University of Colorado, School of Law, in 1972.  He received his undergraduate education at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.   The focus of Frey's law practice is municipal government, land use law, and the arbitration and mediation of civil cases.

Since beginning his practice in Fort Collins, Frey has been active in community and professional association activities.  In addition to his work with Larimer Humane Society, Frey previously served as the Chair of the Larimer County Mental Health Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of the Foothills Unitarian Church.  He has been a member of the Larimer County and Colorado Bar Associations since 1972, and served as the president of the Larimer County Bar and as a delegate to the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar.  Frey is a fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation.

Frey has two grown daughters and lives with his wife Chris and Golden Retriever Jackson in Larimer County.

Frey’s top priority as a board member is tohelp Larimer Humane Society in its commitment to reducing euthanasia rates for all healthy and treatable cats and dogs by 2020, and assist the shelter in its quest to build a new state-of-the-art facility.
