pdfAnimal Protection and Control Officer
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly

Larimer Humane Society seeks qualified applicants for the position of Animal Protection and Control (APC) Officer.  Please include days and hours of work availability, as well as start date availability and salary requirements, in a cover letter.  Our Animal Control Officers are responsible for enforcing State, County and City codes and ordinances governing animal control functions (e.g. field enforcement, licensing, animals at large, animal bite investigations, etc.) and include animal handling and constraint. The position also performs the duties of an Animal Control Dispatcher.  Officers represent the organization in a professional, courteous and ethical manner at all times. The job requires learning a wide range of policies, procedures and processes quickly and includes a significant amount of physical fieldwork, handling of animals of all temperaments and more.  Requirements include a minimum of one-year animal care, animal welfare and/or animal handling experience in a professional capacity.  Proven clerical, typing and math skills required.  Must be able to read and interpret ordinances, prioritize duties and multi-task within a busy work environment.  Proven emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills required.  English and Spanish bilingual skills and experience are a plus.  Ability to relate information to the public and staff in a concise, clear manner is required as is the ability to work in direct contact with aggressive and injured animals.  Previous enforcement and/or dispatch experience a plus.  Solid computer skills required and knowledge of Chameleon software helpful.  The work schedule is generally 4x10 or 5x8, subject to business need, and includes one weekend day, holiday shifts and compensated on-call overnight shifts.  Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings.  Living arrangements within 30 miles of the Shelter due to on-call duties.  Local applicants preferred as relocation assistance is unavailable.

Hiring range starts at $13.40 per hour (non-certified) and higher for Colorado certified candidates with applicable experience.  Closes when filled.        

 

pdfClient Services Representative, Animal Shelter  
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly

Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for the position of regular full-time (40 hours per week) Client Services Representative (CSR).  Please include days and times of work availability, as well as start date availability, in cover letter.  This is a regular full-time, 40 hour per week, position.  Our CSRs represent the Organization in a professional and courteous manner and provide quality service at the Shelter’s front desk.  The job requires great customer service skills, both in person and over the phone.  English and Spanish bilingual skills and experience are a plus.  Must be able to quickly learn and accurately use specialized software as well as learn and apply a wide range of policies and procedure.  Work includes processing animal adoptions, animal returns to owners and animal surrenders as well as physical animal handling, data entry and other duties.  The job includes both sedentary work when processing client information and physical work when handling animals.  Must have emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills. Larimer Humane Society, located in Northern Colorado, seeks qualified applicants for the position of Development Manager.  Please include availability and salary requirements in cover letter.  This is a full time, salaried, exempt position reporting to the Director of Development and Community Relations. The position is responsible for the planning, budgeting and evaluation of all annual fund raising activities to build support and awareness of the Society’s mission, programs and achievements.  Manages a portfolio of corporate, foundation and individual donors and takes a leadership role in donor retention and moves management strategy and activities.  Manages staff and assists the Director of Development and Community Relations and the CEO with Board of Director support, training and development. Requirements include a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in development. Minimum of two years professional experience in full circle development process including prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship; minimum three years of demonstrated management and coordination of large events; minimum of two years staff supervisory experience. One year database analysis and management experience; proficiency in Microsoft Office programs; fluency in Raiser’s Edge and Chameleon Software a plus. Excellent organizational, written, oral and interpersonal communications skills required. Public speaking experience required. Professional demeanor and proven emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills. Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule including weekends and evenings as required. Local candidates preferred as relocation assistance is not available.

Larimer Humane Society seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director of Animal Protection and Control (APC).  Please include availability and salary requirements in cover letter.  Reporting to the CEO, the Director is responsible for providing strategic direction, overall management and tactical animal control leadership for Larimer Humane Society located in Northern Colorado.  The incumbent directs the enforcement of county and municipality ordinances and state statutes relating to animal welfare and public safety.  Develops and implements policies, programs and services related to Animal Control for contractual jurisdictions and ensures Organizational compliance.  Develops programs and activities to promote responsible pet ownership consistent with the values and mission of Larimer Humane Society.  Manages a team of approximately twelve (12) Animal Control and Dispatch officers.  Serves as a field officer on occasion, as needed.  Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent applicable experience, a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience and four (4) years of field Animal Protection and Control, Code Enforcement or Law Enforcement experience.  Proven customer service skills are required, as are solid verbal and written communication and computer skills.  Public speaking experience is required and spokesperson experience is desired.  Humane Officer State Certification and court testimony experience is desired and certifications including CAACO, NACA, NACHO and CAWA are a plus.  Contract negotiation and government liaison experience is a plus as are animal shelter and Chameleon software experience.   Bilingual, written and spoken, in English and Spanish a plus.  Proven emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills.  Relocation assistance may be available. 

Expected hiring range is in the $60k’s and may be negotiable commensurate with experience.  Closes when filled or April 30, 2019.

Full Time (40 hours), Exempt, Salaried Position

Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for our Director of Finance position. This senior level position is responsible for planning, directing and controlling the finance function of the Society by following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.  The position works closely with the CEO, Board of Directors and staff to help guide the financial development of the Society to ensure healthy and responsible fiscal activities within the context of the Society’s mission and goals.  This includes working with members of the management to prepare and monitor the annual budget, conducting financial analysis and preparing financial reports, developing and implementing an effective system of accounting, managing the payroll system and function and working with the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.   In addition, the Director of Finance directly supervises the Licensing Department Supervisor.  The position reports to the CEO.

Hiring range starts in the mid-60’s and is negotiable commensurate with experience.

Larimer Humane Society, located in Northern Colorado, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Marketing and Community Outreach Program Manager.  Please include availability and salary requirements in cover letter.  This is a full time, salaried, exempt position reporting to the Director of Development and Community Relations.  The position is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of Larimer Humane Society’s marketing, public relations, social media and advertising efforts. The Marketing and Community Outreach Manager also engages in the research, planning, implementation and evaluation of community outreach activities necessary to build awareness of Larimer Humane Society’s mission, vision, programs, services and community achievements.  Requirements include a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in marketing and community relations.  Minimum of two years professional experience with public relations, promotions and community programs; minimum two years of proven audience-focused persuasive and informational writing experience.  One year media relations experience.  Website and social media program management required.  Basic budgeting and planning experience.  Media spokesperson experience preferred.  Experience producing visual media a plus as is experience with donor and emergency communications.  Non-profit experience desired.  Proven and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills and the ability to positively interact with diverse populations.  Must have emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills. Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule including weekends and evenings as required.  Local candidates preferred as relocation assistance is not available.

Larimer Humane Society seeks qualified applicants for the position of Supervising Veterinarian.  Please include start date availability and salary requirements in a cover letter.  As Northern Colorado’s largest open-admission animal care facility we provide shelter, medical attention and care to thousands of lost, abandoned, injured, abused, ill and orphaned animals each year. Serving in a leadership role, the Supervising Veterinarian is responsible for the daily operations of the Society’s Veterinary Services department managing the health of the Shelter population, the surgical program and disease control protocols.  The position supervises Shelter Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians and Assistants, Veterinary and Veterinary Technician students and department volunteers.  Our Supervising Veterinarian is a key staff member collaborating and working closely with the Shelter Manager, the Director of Animal Protection and Control and the Foster and Transfer Coordinators.  Must be licensed in the State of Colorado to practice veterinary medicine (or obtain license soon after hiring) and maintain certification.  Minimum of one-year experience as an animal shelter veterinarian with substantial responsibilities for population-level issues required.  High quality/high volume surgical sterilization experience required.  Must be qualified and eligible to obtain and maintain a DEA license and maintain Professional Liability Insurance.  Minimum of more than one-year staff supervisory experience required as is emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills. Commitment to the mission of Larimer Humane Society and the success of the Shelter’s medicine program and must embrace open-admission animal sheltering philosophy.  Relocation assistance may be available.
