Wildlife Specialist
Full-Time (40 hours), Exempt, Salary
The Wildlife Specialist is responsible for the daily operations of the Shelter’s Wildkind program focusing on service to the community as a resource for solutions to human/animal conflicts involving applicable wildlife. Shelter wildlife animals are common, regional, Colorado species including non-raptor birds and small to medium size mammals (geese, bats, raccoons, fox, coyotes, etc.). In addition, the position is responsible for the supervision of department volunteers, seasonal employees and rehabilitators as required. Responsibilities also include the evaluation and outcome of wildlife in the care of the Shelter.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife, biology, animal husbandry or similar field. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including some weekend and evening shifts. Please include days and hours of availability in cover letter. Local candidates preferred. Relocation assistance is not available.
Hiring range begins at $26,300 and may be negotiable commensurate with experience. Closes when filled.
Wildlife Care and Rehabilitation Technician (Licensed)
Full-Time (40 hours), Non-Exempt, Hourly
The Wildlife Care and Rehabilitation Technician is responsible for the care, treatment and rehabilitation of the Shelter’s wild animals, exotic animals and farm animals. Work includes daily care of the Shelter’s WildKind department animals including feeding, and cleaning of cages, barn and public spaces. Additionally, the technician responds as required to public inquiries regarding humane wildlife solutions to human-animal conflicts, general wildlife questions and domestic species under the care of the organization. Requirements for the position include a current (or provisional) license, issued by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, as a Wildlife Rehabilitator for small mammals including rabies vector species. Experience working with non-raptor birds indigenous to Colorado and the region as well as demonstrated applicable wildlife handling experience is needed. The work schedule for the position varies seasonally and may include weekend and evening shifts. Please indicate days and times of availability in cover letter.

Animal Protection and Control Dispatcher
Full-Time (40 hours), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Animal Protection and Control (APC) Dispatchers are responsible for answering and responding to citizens’ calls for Animal Protection and Control assistance and assigning and dispatching requests to Officers on-duty. Dispatchers represent the organization in a professional and courteous manner at all times and are required to quickly learn a wide range of policies, processes and procedures. In additional to dispatching duties, the position requires the ability to perform the field duties of an Animal Protection and Control Officer on a limited basis. Animal Protection and Control officers are responsible for enforcing State, County and City codes and ordinances governing animal control functions (e.g., field enforcement, licensing, animals at large, tethering, etc.) including animal handling and constraint. Previous dispatch experience preferred. Work schedules generally include four, ten hour, days with a Saturday or Sunday shift as well as holiday shifts and quarterly overnight on-call shifts. Licensing Assistant
Full-Time (40 hours), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Licensing Assistants assist the public with animal licenses and rabies vaccination requirements by phone and in person. Representing Larimer Humane Society in a professional and courteous manner, these positions are responsible for performing data entry of rabies vaccination and license information rapidly and accurately. Data entry work using specialized software includes processing information daily, including website submissions, and preparing bulk mailings. Performs daily cash balancing and collects completed license forms and fees from off-site vendors as necessary. Requires learning licensing laws and regulations, rabies vaccination rules and regulations, and specialized software (Chameleon). Licensing Assistant work schedules are generally Monday through Friday. Please include days and times of work availability in cover letter.

Evaluation and Enrichment Coordinator
Full-Time (40 hours), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Evaluation and Enrichment Coordinators are responsible for ensuring that the shelter’s companion animals are evaluated for rehabilitation, foster, adoption transfer programs and more. Administers medications and coordinators spay/neuter surgery schedules. Ensures enrichment needs of shelter companion animals are being met. Rehabilitates behavior of certain animals when possible. Evaluation and Enrichment Coordinator position schedules generally include one weekend shift. Please include days and times of availability in cover letter.

Shelter Veterinarian, PT
Part-Time (8 to 16 hours), Exempt, Hourly
Reporting to the Supervising Veterinarian the part-time Shelter Veterinarian provides examinations, veterinary care, health monitoring and surgery services for shelter animals. The position additionally serves as backup to the Supervising Veterinarian (managing shelter medicine efforts, spay/neuter surgeries and disease control protocols) in her/his absence. Proven experience in the field of veterinary medicine, with high volume surgical sterilization and shelter experience preferred. Experience with wildlife/exotics helpful. Must be currently licensed in the State of Colorado to practice veterinary medicine (or obtain CO license soon after hiring), and must provide proof of Professional Liability insurance. The work schedule for the position includes evenings and weekends as required. Please indicate days and hours of availability in cover letter. Local candidates preferred.

Veterinary Technician (2 positions)
1 Part-Time Position (20 to 25 hours), Non-Exempt, Hourly
1 Full-Time Position (40 hours), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Veterinary Technicians provide clinical and administrative support for the Veterinary Services department. Major responsibilities include assisting with the surgical program including induction and intubation of surgery patients; maintaining accurate records; performing basic animal assessment and triage as needed; administering treatment and medications as needed and more. The position requires 1 to 2 years previous work experience in a veterinary clinic and/or animal shelter clinic. Surgical assistance and proficiency with intubation and IV injection techniques is also required. Weekend shifts may be required. Please indicate days and times of availability in cover letter.

Client Services Representative (3 positions)
2 Full-Time Positions (40 hours), Non-Exempt, Hourly
1 Part-Time Position (20 to 25 hours), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Client Services personnel represent Larimer Humane Society in a professional and courteous manner and provide quality client service at the Shelter’s front desk. Requires learning a wide range of policies and procedures and the ability to quickly learn specialized software and enter complete and accurate data into the computer system. The work includes processing animal adoptions, animal returns to owners and animal surrenders, and involves physical animal handling. Client Services positions generally include at least one weekend shift. Please include days and times of work availability in cover letter.

Animal Care Technician (ACT) (2 positions)
Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly (40 hours per week)
Our Animal Care Technicians are responsible for the daily care of Shelter animals and facilities cleaning. This position involves a significant amount of physical labor. Work shifts vary and generally include at least one weekend day as the positions provide coverage from 8:00am – 7:30pm Monday – Friday, and 8:00am – 5:30pm Saturday and Sunday. Cover letters should include hours and days available.
$9.50 per hour. Closes when filled.

 

Larimer Humane Society conducts criminal background checks, DMV checks and requires drug testing of employment candidates. Employees must be a minimum of 21 years of age for insurance purposes.
